Spotting for 2 weeks and still no normal period?

by Jennifer » 02 Oct 2011 | 08:09 PM

I recently started taking a low dose birth control. My second attempt at BC since last year that gave many yeast infections in a month that I gave up. So the low dose is to help control that fro occurring again.I have only taken it for two months and the first month my period lasted 3 days and it was the lightest I ever had. I wasn't sure if i would even consider that my period since it just felt weird. No normal period symptoms other than the light period. But now in my second month for the last 2 weeks to almost 3 weeks I have been spotting where I have to wear a panty liner everyday all day. And today it is back to light a little heavier than spotting but not enough for me to feel like I am actually on my period. I am aware of the side effects of the pill but is my period ever going to go back to normal? I don't want to spot everyday or worry about it coming and going when ever it feels like. Also is a low dose just as effective as a regular dose BC?

Jennifer,I think that what you're experiencing is more or less normal. I had something similar when I was presribed somewhat low hormone level birth cintrol pills to bring my periods back to normal. I cannot recall the pills' name now, but I have been taking them for about two months. And during these months I had almost no-stopping periods-like discharge, but it was very light to take it as real periods. I did mentioned it to my obgyn and he recommended me stop using it at once and prescribed me just Provera (form of progesterone). I remember it took another month to get my normal periods back.
